Today we are discussing the habit of reading with entrepreneur Asif Ali Gohar who invented rice vegan leather. We will discover if he is an avid reader, if he thinks that his reading habits have helped him in his business, or if he recommends reading for those who want to grow their professional or personal lives.

Would you consider yourself an avid reader? How often do you read for enjoyment?

I do consider myself a pretty avid reader. I like to read one professional or personal growth book at least twice a year, and I read for enjoyment almost every day. It is a relaxing activity that helps me to leave behind the stress of the day while also serving as a way to boost my own creativity.

Do you think that reading has a benefit to business skills?

Reading does have great value in building business skills. Not only does it may nearly endless information and opinions available so you can learn more about how you want to run your own business, but it also helps to understand contracts better and processes. Having strong reading comprehension skills is a great advantage in the business world.

Did the books you read have any part to play in your vegan leather?

I think that the books that I have read, all the way back to my childhood, have affected every part of my life including creating vegan leather. It was them that helped to shape what I value in life and what I think is important, but also offered the creative spark that let me try anything and have original ideas.

Are there any types of books that you would recommend for younger readers?

I think that anything they want to read, they should read, but remember to have some adventure books. They spark creativity and boost confidence. These books tell kids that they can do anything, and that should be continued well into adulthood.

Do you feel that people who read a lot will have better success in business than those who read less?

Yes, I do. I think that it is necessary to help create new ideas and to give the mind an escape that allows it to approach problems in new ways.

Is there a preferred method of reading or are paperbacks, audio books, and ebooks all equal to you?

Each person learns differently and focuses in different ways, so it is important to find the type of reding that feels most comfortable and enjoyable. It’s all the same information regardless of which way it is presented and any reading is better than no reading.

Do you enjoy reading or is it something you think that you are supposed to do?

I both enjoy it and I think it is something that we should all do. It relaxes me and helps me to leave work at work, sometimes it’s the only downtime that I get in a day. When I am unable to read I find that I keep thinking about other things and it makes it harder to find solutions to problems.
