Emmy Triumph for ‘People Get Ready’ Project at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences
The 2023 Emmy Awards brought an exciting surprise for the “People Get Ready” project, also known as “Legends Unite for St. Jude.” This composition, a breathtaking musical masterpiece that beautifully captures the depths of human emotion, received the prestigious Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Composition/Arrangement.
The ceremony, hosted by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – Southeast Region, took place on June 17, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia.
This incredible artistic collaboration, led by the renowned musician Skip Martin, formerly of the legendary band Kool and the Gang, and his talented partner David L. Cook, was honored with this highly coveted award. Their win is a testament to their exceptional musical talent and a tribute to their unwavering dedication to the St. Jude project.
Martin, revamped the old Curtis Mayfield anthem, “People Get Ready” and arranged it in such a way that 29 various legends lent their voices and talents to the project that would benefit St. Jude Children Hospital.
