Aspire Psychological works with women to process their trauma and take control of their lives

Riverton, UT – According to research by the US Department of Veterans Affairs, 50% of women in the United States experience at least one traumatic event in their lives. An estimated 8% of people who suffer a traumatic event will develop PTSD, causing long-term mental health issues.

Research indicates that 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. These traumas can last a lifetime for many women, yet these are not the only traumatic experiences women undergo. Domestic abuse, trauma from spouses, and other events can cause even more mental health stress on women, and it can significantly affect one’s daily functioning.

The majority of women in America carry the burden of trauma for their families. Unfortunately, there is still a stigma around seeking help for mental health issues. Recent world events have ushered in a new era for mental health and well-being. However, a large segment of the population still sees seeking help for mental health issues as a personal weakness.

In addition, many American women believe seeking help for mental health problems is an admission of being a “bad mother”, although that is far from the truth. Getting treatment for mental health shows strength, as women can ask for help in any shape or form.

Aspire Psychological, an award-winning and leading mental health practice in Utah, works with women and men to improve their well-being. Cindy Chia, MA, CMHC, leads a team of experienced mental health professionals capable of treating severe issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, stress, relationship problems, and others. Aspire Psychological uses evidence-based methods to get to the root of the problems an individual faces.

Patients will have a treatment plan created to meet their needs. Aspire Psychological uses treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Gottman Relationship Modality, Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to address the issues plaguing patients. Aspire Psychological’s treatment plan focuses on the entire person and treats the individual by exploring the root of the problems.

“Our team has years of experience working with people who want to take control of their lives,” Chia said. “Poor mental health has evidently affected other aspects of our lives, which prevent us from living the life we want to live. We want to give people their best years back and show them that they are more than their trauma.”

Aspire Psychological also uses Blueprint to provide high quality of mental health care in Utah. Blueprint is a digital service that allows patients to complete assessments about their mental health in between sessions and at their own time. Each provider at Aspire Psychological uses this information from Blueprint to obtain a better understanding of their patients’ mental health and wellness through moods and symptoms tracking/reporting. In this way, our providers are able to make sure that therapy is progressing as expected and that patients are meeting their treatment goals and objectives.
